We made the difficult decision and have begun the process of selling our animals. The immediate question is why? And the plain truth of the matter is health issues have forced us to face the reality that it is time to close out this chapter of our lives and move on at a slower pace in a lower place (altitude.)
We've had a great run these 6 years that started with delivery of Hinny, Halo and Paloma on 30 Aug 2017. Albeit, disrupted by a full year for COVID and also the reality of a near doubling of costs for the staples of ranch life.
We have third generation improvements throughout our herd, influenced by legendary genetics from across the spectrum of the alpaca community. We have a range of quality from a fiber and conformance perspective that includes top placing show animals with top-notch fiber metrics, all registered with Alpaca Owners Association (AOA.) We also have quality animals that will be suitable for 4-H and children's performance events that are an increasing focus at both the Alpaca Affiliate level (such as Alpaca Breeder's of the Rockies,) as well as the national level with AOA.
We will be selling at auction and in packages or giving away our alpacas to good homes in the coming weeks and months. Pricing will be based on quality but with the reality that we are open to reasonable offers in consideration that we are closing down operations on our ranch when we finish.
Regards,
Cindy and Mark
